The Finishing Stages of Building Your Dream Home

When your new home’s main structure is standing proud, the next chapter begins - transforming it from a bare shell into a warm, stylish, and liveable space. Here’s a clear breakdown of what happens step by step, and why each phase is so important.

1. Internal Plastering and Skimming

First, your interior brick walls are plastered or Rhinolited. This creates smooth, level surfaces that seal the brickwork, provide better insulation and get your walls paint-ready. Skim coating ensures a flawless, modern finish that’s easy to clean and maintain

2. Ceilings and Insulation

Next, ceiling boards and cornices are installed, with insulation added above to keep the temperature stable and your energy bills down. Well-installed ceilings hide wiring and pipes neatly and add the final shape to each room

3. Painting and Decorating

Now that walls and ceilings are ready, painters get to work applying primers, undercoats, and final coats. Interior and exterior painting happens here plus wood staining and varnishing on doors, trims and frames. Painting first means your plugs and switches stay paint-free!

4. Second Fix Plumbing

When painting is done, plumbers come back to fit visible bathroom and kitchen fittings: toilets, showers, baths, basins, taps and final pipe connections. They’ll also install geysers or water tanks if needed. It’s all about neat, watertight results.

5. Second Fix Electrical

Electricians follow with the second fix, installing plug covers, light switches, DB (distribution) boards and final light fittings. All wiring done during first fix is now connected and live. A neat finish keeps your fixtures looking clean and modern.

Now the floors come to life! Tiles, SPC flooring, vinyl planks, laminates or carpets are laid room by room. The right floor finish ties your whole interior together and gives each space its character, durable, stylish, and easy to maintain.

7. Built-In Cupboards and Joinery

Once floors are in, it’s time for built-in cupboards and custom carpentry. Kitchens, wardrobes, bathroom vanities and shelves are fitted with precision. Well-crafted cabinetry makes every room functional and personal.

8. Final Fixtures and Fittings

Little details make a house a home: curtain rails, mirrors, door handles, locks, towel rails and other final hardware are fitted. These finishing touches pull everything together and make daily living easy.

9. External Works and Landscaping

While the inside takes shape, the outside shouldn’t be forgotten. Driveways, paving, fencing, gates, decks, pergolas, and garden beds complete the picture. Good landscaping adds value, security and street appeal.

10. Final Snag List and Handover

Before handover, we do a final snag list. Checking every room, every fixture, and every corner for any last tweaks or touch-ups. Once you’re 100% happy, we hand you the keys to your beautifully finished home!
